Ready a URL for class on 3/30 (Tue) to present your solutions to Part 1; ready a URL for class on 4/1 (Thu) to present your write up for Part 2.

Intention: to understand problems and problem solving in product design.

Part 1 (50 points)

Choose a product you use that doesn’t seem to “work right”.

Through observation and analysis, determine the problem[s] with the product..

Through creative thinking and synthesis, determine how the product can “work right”.

Part 2 (in class - 50 points)

Hand off your re-design to the person to your left.

Evaluate the re-design and determine if it solves the problem better than the original.

Determine if the re-design solved a problem or created more problems.

Was there a problem to start with?

If the product did not exist, would you miss it?

Does the existence of the product solve more problems than it creates?
