The Competition

Use any programming language or system you wish to write the simplest computer program that generates the most beautiful snowflake. The deadline is January 19, 2005. To submit your entry, you will need to bring a URL or a laptop with the working system to present your entry. All entries will be videotaped from 2PM on January 19 according to a set of scheduled slots. You will receive your slot time after confirmation of entry. There is no fee to enter the competition.

Registration

Registration is easy. Just contact Heather Pierce (hac **at**media.mit.edu) to enter with your name, e-mail, and contact information. You will receive a slot to present your entry in person on January 19. All presentations will be videotaped to be shown in sequence at 4PM at the Media Lab. Winners will be announced at 5PM.

Special information for Entrants

Check-in begins at 2 PM at Bartos Theatre (lower level of E15). All entries will be shown in Bartos at 4PM as an edited video, and winners will be announced at 5PM. Free hot chocolate and snacks will be served.

Why are we doing this?

Snowflake-a-thon is the brainchild of John Maeda '88 who has dreamed of having such a competition on campus since 1988. Aesthetics and computation converge at MIT on January 19!
