College friends John Christakos, Maurice Blanks, and Charlie Lazor founded BLU DOT to design and manufacture elegant furniture for everyday people with everyday needs, focusing on simple, pragmatic issues, from efficiency in manufacturing and packaging to basic function, creating products that are as useful and egalitarian as they are tuned into contemporary culture. Their work has received numerous awards, and has been exhibited by The Museum of Modern Art, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, the Walker Art Center, and the Centres Pompidou.

Alexander Gelman | Graphic Design
Principal, Design Machines

The Museum of Modern Art calls Alexander Gelman one of the "world's most famous modern and contemporary artists in all media." He is president and a founding partner of Design Machine, a New-York-based consultancy. His best-selling book Subtraction: Aspects of Essential Design (2000 Rotovision UK) has been translated into German, French, Spanish, and Japanese, and is considered a modern classic.

Bill Moggridge | Product Design
Bill Moggridge designed the first laptop computer, the GRiD Compass, and pioneered interaction design as a discipline to be an integral part of product development. In 1991 he formed IDEO with David Kelley and Mike
Nuttall. He has been active in design education throughout his career, notably at the Royal College of Art in London and Stanford's product design program.

Jessie Scanlon | Design Writing
Contributing Editor, WIRED
Jessie Scanlon is a contributing editor at Wired magazine and a freelance writer. Based in New York, she covers design and technology for Wired, The New York Times, Slate, ID, and Popular Science. As a member of Wired's
launch team, she helped the magazine grow from start-up to National Magazine Award winner to mainstream title with one million readers. Scanlon has served as a judge for the Chrysler Design Awards and a moderator for ID’s annual design review.
